10th Annual Row for Charity - A Success
Row for Charity 2009 winning Teams

Bridgetown, Barbados. June, 22, 2010. The 10th Annual Row for Charity was recently staged in the Carlisle Bay on Father’s Day despite persistent rain. Scores of rowers who wanted to have fun and vie for prizes while contributing to a worthwhile cause gathered to participate in the two race event.

According to Chief Barker (President) of Variety, the Children’s Charity, Amanda McKay, 95% of the participants were repeat competitors. 37 teams were registered with 16 entered for the Wind Warriors Wonder Race which was for the ‘slower’ rowers and 16 entered for the Motor Maniacs Madness Race. There were only 5 teams who did not show up due to inclement weather.

The first race was the “The Wind Warriors Wonder Race”. The team from Office Supplies placed first while the team from Carib LPG and Team “Sail by date – Expired” Bougainvillea Hotel took second and third place respectively.

The very competitive “Aquaholics”, sponsored by Bougainvillea Hotel captured first place in the fast paced Motor Maniacs Madness Race. The teams from Going Places and the Stansfeld Scott “Joint Care Pirates” claimed second and third places in what was almost a dead heat out of the water.

Spectators and the rowers alike were wowed by the appearance of the contestants of this year’s Miss Barbados Crop Over Contest who assisted in distributing the some of the samples donated by corporate sponsors.
