Variety the Children’s Charity hosted the second Ride ‘Round Barbados on Saturday March 21, 2009 when 16 cyclists completed a trek that began and ended at the Folkestone Marine Park in St. James.
The Ride ‘Round Barbados began at 4:00 a.m. with short stops at Cherry Tree Hill, St. Peter, Codrington College, St. John and Enterprise, Christ Church before the final stretch along the west coast to Folkestone. This group of dedicated men and one woman trained for two months. During that time they rode 500 miles in anticipation of the March ride.
Thank you to these wonderfully committed cyclists for undertaking this amazing feat of riding around the island and raising a whopping $12,000.00! With the help of corporate sponsors the Ride helped us to move closer to our goal of upgrading and refurbishing the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
